Event – Fundraiser for Burned Out and Washed Out Musicians

from Altadena and New Mexico

August 1 – 4:00- 6:00 PM Friday Outdoor Stage at La Tienda, Eldorado

___________________________________________________________________________________

On August 1 a group of Santa Fe musicians will perform at a fundraiser for musician victims of fires and floods in Ruidoso and Altadena. Many musicians and music students lost their belongings, including instruments. We are raising funds that can help some of these struggling musicians obtain new instruments and other replacement equipment. All proceeds including performers’ payments will be donated to MusiCares®, the charitable arm of the Grammys, and the New Mexico Arts Foundation non-profit to support these musicians.

The show will take place August 1 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the Outdoor Stage at La Tienda in Eldorado as a part of the local Farmers Market. Featured performers include John Carrick, Chris Harrell, Marcia Louis and Phil Moon. Several special guests are expected to join the event. Attendees will be able to donate via cash, credit card or directly to the New Mexico Arts Foundation.

The fires and floods of 2025 have been devastating. These two regions, Ruidoso and Altadena, have been especially hard hit. They have a heavy population of professional, amateur and student musicians who lost everything in these fires. We want to help a few of them get back on their feet.

The perfprmance will have a California theme. Music will include the 3 B's - Buffalo Springfield, the Byrds and Beach Boys. Also Linda Ronstadt, CSNY, Little Feat, Eagles, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Youngbloods - too many others to mention.

As of July 17, MusiCares® has distributed $6,980,229 directly to more than 3,200 music professionals across Los Angeles, and an additional $3,969,005 has been directed to three community-based organizations: California Community Foundation, Direct Relief and Pasadena Community Foundation.

The New Mexico Music Commission mission is to protect, promote, and preserve the musical traditions of New Mexico, to foster appreciation of the value of music, and to encourage the educational, creative and professional musical activities of the residents of New Mexico.
